Rarely seen in the USA, this Triumph Renown is a lovely saloon driver, with easy shifting and a pleasurable ride. VIN: TDC 2716 DL. This luxury motorcar is finished in black and grey silver with red accent striping, complimented by a grey leather interior. Powered by a peppy 4 cyl OHV engine, with a displacement of 2088cc, bored at 85mm and stroke at 92 mm. 68HP. Three speed manual gearbox, with a single dry place Borglite mechanical clutch. Drum brakes all around. Long term owner reports 24mpg. Inside, the instrument cluster features a Jaeger speedometer, oil pressure and fuel, temperature gauge and Lucas amp. The Triumph Renown MK II TDC was produced from 1952-54, and this example if one of the last produced--in the last month. Only 2800 were made worldwide, and online sources report that less then 150 survive worldwide, mostly found in Britain, with less than 10 known in the USA. In 2004, the engine block was changed to TR2 block. The top end components are all original and were rebuilt at the same time as needed: cylinder head was rebuilt to run on unleaded gas with hardened valve guides; new wiring, a new oil filter canister (powder coated green), manifold, air silencer box, and gear box. The tires will need to be replaced--they were installed in 2002. Originally the car would have been delivered from the factory with bias ply black walls. While a lovely driver, this car will need some work underneath over time. The body mounts are rotted and the frame and mounts will need to be repaired. Electric fuel pump was added (original fuel pump is included with the sale), as are numerous other parts and related paper ephemera.
