1958 Edsel Bermuda - $29,500

Rare 1958 Edsel Bermuda Station Wagon. This car was delivered to Bernard Meyer in September 1957, who opened up the new Edsel dealership in Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Meyer operated the Edsel dealership through May, 1959. He loved this Bermuda wagon so much that he kept it as his personal car and owned it through 1991. He then sold the car to the Edsel Owners Club President, Jeff Sledge. Mr. Sledge owned the car until his passing in 1995. After sitting in storage for a couple of years, the car passed to the third and present owner, who lived in nearby Maryland but eventually brought the car to his summer residence in New Hampshire where he kept the car carefully stored inside a specially built garage. The car has a clear New Hampshire title. Only 1456 six passenger wagons produced in 1958--in a year that Ford Motor Company produced over a million units. Data Plate decodes as follows: Body: 79D= 4 Door Station Wagon (6 passenger) Color: D (Turquoise) and EE (Frost White) Trim: AV=White & Turquoise Vinyl Date: 10K (produced October 10, 1958 Transmission: 4=Automatic Push Button Axle A: 2.91 to 1 ratio This car has been been repainted original factory colors--turquoise and frost white. The "E" in the rear tailgate trim is not correct. When the car was restored, rear quarter panels were placed over the original. Equipped with desirable luggage rack. The interior seats and door panel have been restored to original colors and specifications. For a top-of-the-line wagon, this car was ordered new without a radio and it has a radio delete panel (some cracking but when was the last time you saw an Edsel radio delete cover?). Powered by Teletouch transmission, the push button innovation housed in the steering wheel hub. Power steering and power brakes. The seats, carpet, and headliner were all professionally re-done in correct style when the car was refinished a number of years ago. The dashboard instruments and steering wheel appear to be unrestored original and they present well even though they do show some expected wear/age and pitting. An after-market instrument cluster (old pressure, water temp and amps) was mounted under dash for modern driving convenience, although this could be removed easily by our Service Center for those that want the stock look. The roof rack and side mirrors do show some pitting. on the side rails The rear compartment is original, unrestored. In Spring 2017, the owner of the car ordered a mechanical recommissioning of the car including: replace inner and outer wheel bearing, front wheel seals, replace brake cables, electric wiper motor installation, redo brake lines, replace water pump replace front springs and adjust steering box (the Teletouch tranmission in the steering wheel hub operates just fine). If you're interested, this car also has a separate offering of numerous Edsel dealership tools. The tools were undoubtedly kept by Mr. Bernard Meyer, the original owner who operated the Edsel dealership. We've never seen anything like this in all the years we've handled Edsels. Apparently, when FoMoCo shut down Edsel dealerships, these tools were reportedly to be returned. Apparently, Mr. Meyer never did. If anyone know more about Edsel-branded dealer tools, we'd welcome your insights. If anyone is interested in the tools, please inquire. We can send photos and description.
